Ibrahim Sangaré Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest working on incoming players and departures

In the last few hours, there have been developments on three fronts for Nottingham Forest: the departure of Jonathan Panzo and the targets Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ibrahim Sangaré.

In two days’ time, on Saturday 15 July, Nottingham Forest will kick off their pre-season with a friendly against Notts County. At this stage of pre-season last season, the club had already recruited several players. So far this summer, no players have been signed and none have left. A situation that is beginning to worry some supporters, who would like the club to be more active in the transfer window. The good news is that there have been a number of developments in recent hours.

The first concerns Jonathan Panzo’s future at the club. Glasgow Rangers have been interested in the centre-back since the start of the summer, but negotiations have been on hold ever since. However, according to TopSkills Sports UK, talks have now resumed between Rangers and Nottingham Forest in a bid to agree a deal worth around £5m. Personal terms have already been agreed for the centre-back to join Scotland on a contract until 2028.

In terms of arrivals, it has been known for several weeks that Nottingham Forest are looking to sign Chelsea right-winger Callum Hudson-Odoi. Negotiations are not at an advanced stage. The club is checking the terms of a deal, according to TopSkills Sports UK again. The Englishman would be greatly appreciated by Steve Cooper to strengthen Nottingham Forest’s right wing.
However, while Nottingham Forest are also trying to sign Willian, who is currently a free agent, the Evening Standard reports that Fulham would like to replace the Brazilian with Callum Hudson-Odoi, which would make a move for Chelsea’s young England full-back to the City Ground more complicated.

Finally, rumours of Ibrahim Sangaré’s arrival at Nottingham Forest have been growing since last night. According to The Athletic, the club have made a bid to PSV Eindhoven for the Ivorian midfielder, who has a £32m release clause. However, a number of twists and turns have followed. Dutch journalist Rik Elfrink, who specialises in PSV Eindhoven, has reported that Forest have not yet made an offer to PSV for the midfielder. A confusing situation.

However, in the afternoon, Pete O’Rourke published an article on the Football Insider website announcing that Nottingham Forest were now in advanced discussions with the Dutch club to sign Ibrahim Sangaré for a fee of around £30m. The player’s representatives are reportedly currently in Greece to meet with Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis and attempt to finalise the deal.

A number of transfer rumours have also emerged recently, which should please the fans, who are now waiting for official signings, as well as player departures.
