Nottingham Forest are among the clubs interested in 19-year-old Brazilian attacking midfielder Matheus França, from Flamengo.
The end of the season is approaching for Nottingham Forest and the club’s future in the Premier League is still very much in doubt. However, even if the club’s priority is to stay in the top flight, the board must prepare for next season, by defining the club’s targets if it goes down to the Championship but also if it stays up.
The latest transfer rumours suggest that the board will prioritise targets in the event of the club staying in the Premier League. If that happens, the club will be looking to strengthen all over the place, but not to recruit heavily. The priority should be quality over quantity. It also seems that, since last summer, Forest have been looking heavily at the Brazilian player market, recruiting Felipe, Renan Lodi, Gustavo Scarpa and Danilo, while rumours of other Brazilian targets continue to appear. Most recently, rumours of the club’s interest in Flamengo striker Pedro have emerged. And it seems that Forest are also interested in one of his teammates.
According to BolaVipCom, Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Brazilian prospect Matheus França. The 19-year-old attacking midfielder could leave Flamengo this summer. He is of interest to a number of European clubs including Newcastle, Crystal Palace, Bayer Leverkusen and Lyon. The TransferMarkt website values him at around £4.4m, but Flamengo have given him a release clause of £176m and have already turned down offers of around £17.6m for the young attacking midfielder, according to Globoesporte.
Last season he scored 4 goals in 17 games in the Brazilian Serie A and started in the first game of this new season with Flamengo.
