Nottingham Forest have held talks with PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi, representing QSI. The reasons for the meeting are not yet clear.
Nottingham Forest are about to embark on their second consecutive season in the Premier League, with the ambition of establishing themselves more comfortably. The club’s ambitions are high, and owner Evangelos Marinakis is not hesitating to offer Forest the sporting and financial resources to get closer to its ambitions.
A place in the Premier League makes a significant economic contribution to a football club, and it is in the club’s interest to establish itself there in order to continue along this path. SportsZone recently reported that Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis held talks with Paris Saint-Germain chairman and Qatar Sports Investments representative Nasser Al-Khelaifi last weekend. The nature of the meeting has not been revealed, but it is unlikely that it involved any player transfers between the two clubs. QSI has quite different interests.
Back in January, journalist Ben Jacobs reported that QSI were interested in investing in a Premier League club. The Qataris are interested in acquiring a minority stake in a club and have already held talks with Tottenham. Talks are due to resume this summer and the timing of this meeting with Nottingham Forest suggests that Qatar is broadening its target clubs and that Nottingham Forest could well be one of them.
