Nottingham Forest could be back in the market for one of their summer targets: Sevilla’s Argentinian defensive midfielder Guido Rodriguez. But the club could face competition from Barcelona for his signature.
Nottingham Forest have once again been very active in the transfer market this summer. Although the first signing was slow in arriving, with Ola Aina’s free signing from Torino on 22 July 2023, the club managed to complete the signing of 14 new players, after an absolutely incredible Deadline Day, when seven new players arrived simultaneously.
Numerous rumours also surfaced and some signings could not be completed. But Nottingham Forest are reportedly already ready to reactivate a target from this summer for the next winter transfer window.
This summer, the club tried to sign Betis Sevilla defensive midfielder Guido Rodriguez, with a bid of around £6.4m offered and rejected by the Spanish club, who were asking for around £10.4m. And, according to Estadio Deportivo, Nottingham Forest could make another bid this winter.
The Argentinian has just six months left on his contract in Andalusia, and Bétis Sévilla are asking around £11.2m to part with him in the next winter transfer window. A reasonable fee for a player who won the World Cup with Argentina in Qatar last December and has European Cup experience, having played in the last two Europa League campaigns and will also play this season.
However, Nottingham Forest will face competition from FC Barcelona for his signature. The race to sign Guido Rodridguez promises to be intense.
The Argentinian defensive midfielder played 47 games in all competitions last season and has already played four La Liga games this season.
